JUBA – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday dismissed Albino Dak Othow from his role as Deputy Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA) and appointed Taban Abel Aguek as his replacement.
The decision was announced in a presidential decree read on state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) on Wednesday night. The decree did not provide any reasons for Othow’s dismissal.
Taban Abel Aguek, prior to this new appointment, was a Member of Parliament representing Awerial County in the Lakes State Legislative Assembly. He has previously held key positions in the government, including as the Deputy Governor of the now-defunct Eastern Lakes State.
Aguek also served as the SPLM Chief Whip of the Eastern Lakes State Legislative Assembly and held the role of Minister of Information, Communication, Culture, Youth, and Sports in Eastern Lakes State before its dissolution.
