JUBA – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday morning travelled to Ugandan for a meeting of the East African Community, the presidency said.
“President Kiir in his capacity as the Chair of East African Community Friday morning travelled to Uganda to sign the instrument of the accession of the Federal Republic of Somalia into the regional bloc,” the presidency said in a statement seen by Sudans Post.
According to the statement, Kiir as the head of the regional organization, is expected to “sign the instrument of Accession.
President of incoming statement, Somalia, which was admitted during a regional heads of state summit last month, is also expected to “sign and witnessed by one Head of State.”
This is the first time Kiir travel to the East African Community since his election to head the organization last month.
