JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit called on students to embrace education in a bid to contribute meaningfully to society development.
Addressing the candidates before the start of examination on Monday, President Kiir called on students to embrace education in order to achieve sustainable development in the country.
“With return of peace, I would like to urge all South Sudanese to embrace the pursuit of education because our ability to move our country forward lies within its transformative power,” Mayardit said.
Mayardit praised parents for nurturing their children to take this important milestone in their lives and encouraged them to continue giving their children unconditional love and support them in their preparation to be the leaders of tomorrow.
“We thank you for nurturing them and also sharing your joy in seeing them taking this vital step in their progress along their educational journey. Continue giving them unconditional love and support in their preparation to be leaders of tomorrow,” he said.
He urged all South Sudanese to recognize the efforts of the teachers, and officials in the Ministry of Education for their tireless work improve educational sector
There are 34,536 candidates sitting for this 2020 Certificate of Secondary Education Examination, out of this number there are 11,716 females and 22,820 males which represent an increase of 20.4% from 2019.
