Kiir, World Bank representatives discuss ‘necessary resources’ for South Sudan

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit met on Friday with representatives of the World Bank Group and discussed ways to improve the economy of the world's youngest country, according to a statement by the presidency.

JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit met on Friday with representatives of the World Bank Group and discussed ways to improve the economy of the world’s youngest country, according to a statement by the presidency.

The World Bank representatives were led by the Executive Director of African Group in the World Bank Group, according to the presidency statement.

“Friday June 4, 2021- His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit received in his office today, the Executive Director for African Group in World Bank Dr.Taufila Nyamadzabo and discussed a wide range of issues on how the World Bank Group can best assist the Government of South Sudan in achieving its development objectives,” the presidency statement reads in part.

“The President and Dr.Taufila Nyamadzabo held extensive discussions on the strategies, necessary resources and implementation of South Sudan developmental projects in the areas of health, infrastructure, capacity building programs as well as the need to improve financial management systems,” the statement added.
