JUBA – The office of President Salva Kiir Mayardit has vehemently denied accusations of purchasing a manuscript to suppress potentially damaging information about the president.

The unpublished book by Tim Edward, titled “A Bloody Nile,” has stirred controversy by alleging that President Kiir is HIV-positive and has engaged in sexual misconduct with young women, purportedly with the intent to transmit the virus to them.

The paper also suggests a link between Kiir and the 2005 demise of John Garang, insinuating that Garang’s “spirit” is haunting Kiir.

The circulation of the manuscript on social media has fueled speculation, with exiled opposition leader Peter Biar Ajak citing it to bolster previous claims.

Biar has also alleged that Kiir’s camp had influenced the writer to suppress the book’s dissemination.

However, in a statement released on Saturday, presidential press secretary Lily Albino categorically refuted the claims of purchasing the unpublished manuscript.

Albino further criticized Biar for allegedly utilizing content from the manuscript to launch social media attacks against Kiir.

“The Office of the President has learnt with shock and dismay that one Peter Biar Ajak has been using contents of an unpublished book: A Bloody Nile, to launch a barrage of insults against H.E President Salva Kiir on social media,” the statement said.

“Therefore, the fact that none of the above happened, the manuscript is nothing, but mere propaganda designed by the enemies of the state to destroy the reputation of the President,” the statement added.
