RUMBEK – Lakes State governor, Rin Tueny Mabor has advised newly-appointed ministers to diligently serve citizens and work within their constitutional mandates.
He was presiding over the swearing-in of the ministers of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Peacebuilding, Animal resources, Fisheries and Tourism, two chairpersons and deputies of independent commissions at the state secretariat.
Mabor described the newly-appointed state officials as young and energetic.
“We welcome you as a government of Lakes State. I am happy we are all young people. You are very energetic because we want to end suffering,” he said.
According to the governor, his major priority Is peace in all counties and bomas.
“Our state has to have peace and this is a first priority”, said Mabor, adding ” As a transitional government, it is a responsibility for the implementation of revitalized peace agreement. It must be implemented because this is what brought South Sudanese together. It is a must for this peace agreement to be implemented “.
He said implementation of this peace agreement is key ahead of the elections.
Mabor said peace and stability can be achieved through free and fair elections.
For his part, the Cooperatives and Rural Development minister, Isaac Luka Manga vowed to prioritize service delivery in all the eight counties of Lakes State.
For her part, the Minister for Peace Building, Nyanhok Malou Marial said, “As we go to the office today, our aim is to serve the people of South Sudan and Lakes State in particular. To every woman out there, just know that we are going to the office and you should be there supporting us because when we are youth.”
She assured that young people were ready to shape the future of Lakes State.
Marial said the long history of tribal conflicts in Lakes State is now under control.
A member of the armed opposition faction, the minister wowed to work with the governor and all leaders in the state to attain peace and stability in Lakes State.
