RUMBEK, MARCH 4, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – Police authorities in South Sudan’s Lakes state are saying that they have arrested a young man and a paramount chief over killing of a teenager over pregnancy.
Gen. Machiek Achol, Lakes State deputy police commissioner, said a 17-year-old girl in Yirol East County was impregnated and her boyfriend reported the case to the police who detained the two before the girls’ families could come to release their daughter.
“This girl became pregnant from someone she uses to be in love with him and the man’s family took her to the police station,” General Machiek is quoted by Eye Radio as saying.
He said that after arrival home, the girl was beaten by his brother causing her death.
“Later, the girl was released after being bailout by the paramount chief. When she returned home, her brother beat her which caused her death,” he said.
