JUBA – A South Sudan lawmaker representing Mayom County in the Transitional Council of States in Juba said Sunday that General Stephen Buay Rolnyang – who claimed responsibility for the death of Mayom County Commissioner – is receiving logistical support from neighboring Sudan.

On Friday morning, Mayom County Commissioner Maj. Gen. Chuol Gatluak Manimeh, the elder brother to Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs Tut Gatluak, was killed in a gruesome manner after being burned to death as his house caught fire during overnight clashes.

Gen. Buay’s group later on claimed responsibility, but said the commissioner and 4th infantry division commander Gen. Ruai Tap, have been attacking his hideouts.

Speaking during a funeral rite conducted in Khartoum for the late commissioner’s soul, Hon. Abdun Gatjiek, member of council of states on the ticket of SSOA alleged that a convoy carrying logistical support for Buay’s forces had left Khartoum and was in Nyama heading towards Mayom, and threatened that the government will fight Gen. Buay.

“His support comes from Sudan. What I want to tell you the Bul [Community], so Buay do not mobilize, we will fight Buay by the power of the government because he has declared war against the government,” he said.

The lawmaker further said that the government will be making efforts in clearing Buay’s loyalists in Sudan and will be arresting and deporting them back to South Sudan.

“I also have an announcement and I am responsible for it, Buay’s followers, even if they are related to Nyawan (Tut Gatluak’s mother], will be arrested, because the governments of Sudan and South Sudan cooperate,” he said.

He said Gen. Buay has gone to the extent of appointing community chiefs in Mayom County and is also threatening people in Khartoum not to come to the funeral rite.

“This man called Buay has gone to the extent of appointing traditional chiefs. And most members of Bul Community haven’t shown up her in this funeral,” he said.

“This is because Buay has gone to the extent of threatening people here in Sudan because he has created influence within Sudan,” he added.
