JUBA – The founder of Kiirdit & Co-advocates, Kiir Chol Deng, on Thursday filed a petition to sue South Sudan’s National Security Service (NSS) over the closure of his business apartment in Nyakuron South in Juba.
According to advocate Kiir, security personnel on 27th June 2024 stormed his office and locked their villa over his refusal to freely accommodate NS officers in his business apartment.
“Under the style and leadership of Gen. Akol Koor Kuc, is not only destructive to infrastructure policy in the country as many investors have already started avoiding investment in the hotels and apartment industries,” the letter reads.
“But also amounted to undermining the constitution mandate of the national security as a professional institution in collecting security dates or information as freely accommodated elite officers in the private or apartment won’t be ready to expose their masters who freely accommodate them,” it added.
A petition letter obtained by Sudans post, Kiir sought permission from the Justice Minister to sue South Sudan National Security Service boss Gen. Akol Koor Kuc.
“The intended applicants bring this application inter alia to seek a leave under the said provision to sue the said intended respondents by means of judicial review to court of law,” it reads.
Counsel Kiir Chol challenges this practice of accommodating NSS officers freely citing that there is no article in the constitution of South Sudan that allows this.
