JUBA – A huge delegation of the Rubkona County’s Leek Community Association of South Sudan’s Unity state has this afternoon met President Salva Kiir Mayardit and asked the South Sudanese head of state to prioritize there area in service delivery while vowing unwavering support to the SPLM-IG leader.
“Tuesday 22nd June 2021 – His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit held a meeting in his office, with a delegation of Leek Community from Rubkona County and discussed a wide range of issues affecting them as a Community,” the presidency said in a statement seen by Sudans Post.
According to the statement, the delegation “mentioned issues such as floods, lack of basic needs and infrastructure development as some of the problems facing the people of Leek Community in Rubkona County as well as the need for more representation of Leek people in the National Government.”
“The delegation commended H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit for the tremendous work that he has done for South Sudan and described him as a symbol of peace, a hero and loving son of the nation,” the statement added.
“The delegation said the people of Leek Community commends and trust the leadership of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit and pledged that they will continue to support his leadership and the Government of National Unity.”
In statement to the media, Leek Community Chairperson Tungwar Kweiguong who is also the minister of housing and physical infrastructure for Unity state urged Kiir “to prioritize Unity State in the infrastructure development plan strategy” and requested H.E the President “to represent more people of Leek Community in the national government.”
For his part, Kiir’s media aide Ateny Wek Ateny said President Kiir “pledged his support to address the problems raised that are facing the people of Leek community” and added that the president “encouraged the people of Leek community to work with the national, state and local governments to provide adequate services and infrastructure development to their people.”
