TORIT – Local population in Pogee village of South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria state are returning home, a week after fierce fighting between Ugandan and South Sudan armies resulted in the displacement of several villagers there.
On Sunday, the executive officer of Pajok, Okeny John Andrew led a delegation of the community leaders to Pogee to assess the situation on the ground.
He says calm has returned to the area, though people are still living in fear.
Okeny also appealed to the national government to engage Uganda government in order to resolve the border tension.
On 27th of October two SSPDF manning the border between South Sudan and Uganda were shot and killed by Uganda People Defense Forces.
