JUBA – South Sudan’s First Vice President and leader of the main armed opposition group, SPLM-IO, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, is a threat to peace and socio-development in the Republic of South Sudan, Mabior Garang, former minister of interior and former spokesman of the SPLM-IO has claimed.
“The FVP and the Riek Machar Politician have had some power and money for three years. They could have shown our peoples what they can do differently. All they have done with their power is try to destroy the NCSS and assassinate the character of its Moderators. We feel proud to be attacked by the traditional elite. These are the agents of the barbaric status quo in our land which has prevailed since the days of the slave trade,” Mabior Garang said in a statement.
He claimed that Machar “has nothing to offer” and his men are “half-baked politicians from the streets of Suk Khalili in Cairo and Suk Arabi in Khartoum. Others are political thugs from Simmers in Nairobi and Arua Park in Kampala. They are gossip peddlers they only discuss people’s business because they are ideologically bankrupt.”
“It is very easy to identify the Riek Machar Politician. Though they can wear the he’ll out of a suit and look civilized, they are characterized by nauseating ignorance. You will find them making their bizarre comments all over Facebook, attacking anything progressive.
“They think South Sudan will one day be governed by self-fulfilling prophecies. According to them these are the days. The NCSS represents an existential threat to the Riek Machar Politician with our Political Education Program.
“It destroys their base, ignorance. The traditional elite in our land thrive in the naivete of our civil population and will attack anyone who would want to raise their awareness.
“The SPLM-IO (Juba) and the Riek Machar Politician are the greatest threat to peace and security in our land. They are the obstacle to the socio-economic development of our civil population.
“They have convinced themselves and want to confuse our civil population, that the untenable status quo is our culture and must be preserved for ever. While they, the custodians, are immune from this suffering and must be served by our peoples, instead of them being the servants of our peoples.
“Is there anyone -not counting political beggars- who takes the SPLM-IO seriously anymore? Is there anyone who is still not sure that the SPLM-IO (Juba) is the obstacle to peace in our nascent Republic?”
