Al-Sisi has on Saturday visited South Sudan, the world’s youngest country, in a first state visit to the country by an Egyptian leader.
“Today in Juba, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with South Sudan’s First Vice President Riek Machar,” the Egyptian presidency said in a statement seen by Sudans Post.
“The meeting touched on means to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries as well as exchange views on Egypt’s support to efforts to implement the milestones of the peace agreement terms in South Sudan in order to realize stability and development in the country,” it adds.
Al-Sisi also met Kiir on Saturday in a meeting in which the two heads of state discussed several issues including Egypt’s support to South Sudan and regional developments including the Nile Dam dispute between Egypt and Ethiopia.
