JUBA — South Sudan’s First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has organized a dinner at his residence in the capital Juba in which senior government officials including vice-president Taban Deng Gai.
In a statement seen by Sudans Post, the First Vice President’s office said Machar had invited Muslim leaders for a breakfast of Ramadan festival on Friday and was attended by senior government officials.
“H.E. The First Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, invited Muslim leaders and representatives to his official residence for the breakfast of the Ramadan festival on Friday, 30th April, 2021,” Machar’s office said.
“Hundreds of people attended the gathering, including senior government officials and heads of foreign diplomatic missions accredited to the country,” the statement added.
Based on photos posted by Machar’s office, Vice-President for infrastructure cluster Taban Deng Gai who was once appointed to replace Machar as First Vice President in 2016 is seen gesturing with Machar.
Some have even speculated that the two rival Nuer politicians are developing good relationship.
