JUBA — South Sudan’s First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny on Monday met and secured a Chinese scholarship for 2020/2021 best-performing student who had appealed for financial help, according to one of the the first vice president’s aide.
Obuny Okech, 21, obtained 95.1 per cent in the 2020/2021 secondary examination, but failed to enroll at a university due to financial problems.
Obuny recently appealed for help, saying he pushed himself to get good grades in secondary exam to propel himself to higher chances of winning a scholarship but eventually didn’t get a seat for unknown reasons.

“Currently what I want is that, if I could get an opportunity to get a scholarship no matter where it’s. I just want to join a university as soon as possible, because it has been long, I stay two years without going to university, and that’s waste of time,” he added.
