JUBA – A spokesman for South Sudan’s First Vice President and main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny has dismissed as fake a documents circulating on social media purporting disapproval of Machar for the people of Ulang county warning those he terms as anti-peace elements of making fun of the situation there.
This comes days after a sectional violence between two sections of the Cie Chuol Duong killed around 30 people in Ulang County. The violence which ended in one day was reportedly triggered by revenge.
Yesterday, a fake document purportedly written by Machar was circulating on social media expressing Machar’s disapproval of the Chielang community of Ulang calling them “a group of people mobilized by the so-called reformist of Duer Tut, whose aim is to create chaos within the SPLA-IO.”
Reacting to the document, Press Secretary in the Office of the First Vice President, James Gatdet Dak Lampuar, said statement is fake and was not authored by Machar’s office warning against use of lies to complicate and incite further violence and tarnishing the image of the SPLM-IO leader.
“This is another fake document from anti-peace elements circulating on social media. It is not funny to mock the situation in Ulang County by writing and talking lies and faking documents on social media,” Gatdet said on his social media profile.
“Dozens of innocent people have died and many wounded. This fake document is a mockery to their lives. Stop it!” he added.
