Machar’s party to inaugurate state secretariat in Northern Bahr el Ghazal next week

JUBA – The main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has announced that it will inaugurate its state secretariat in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State next week, a senior member of the group and close ally of First Vice President Machar said this evening.

In a statement, Dut Majokdit, the Chairperson of Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) in Northern Bahr el Ghazal and member of the National Liberation Council of the SPLM-IO said the inauguration of the party secretariat in the state will be conducted during the morning hours of November 18 in Aweil town.

“I am delighted to take this privilege and opportunity to extend the invitation to comrades and all parties to the peace agreement, civil society organizations, international partners to attend the official launching of the SPLM (IO) State Secretariat in Northern Bahr El Ghazel State on the 18^th November 2022, in Aweil town at Mathiang Square, 9:00 AM South Sudan Local Time,” he said in the statement.

The senior opposition official said a high-level delegation will be led to Aweil by the SPLM-IO deputy chairperson and first deputy speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) Nathaniel Oyet and the secretary-general, Regina Joseph Kaba as well as the deputy speaker of the Council of States Deng Deng Akon who is also a native of Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

“The high-level delegation from Juba shall be led by the Deputy Chairman of the SPLM (IO) RT Hon. 1^st Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament, Nathaniel Oyet, and Hon. Regina Joseph Kaba, the Secretary General, RT. Hon. Speaker for the council of States Gen. Deng Deng Akoon, and the Members of Political Bureau and National Liberation Council and National Secretaries including the National Ministers and Members of the Parliament,” he said.

“For those who are waiting for this day, please get prepared to register as the member of this great organization that is spearheading for reforms in this country under the leadership of his Excellency Dr Riek Machar Teny, First Vice President and Chairman of the SPLM (IO), comrades our commitment to serve the people of Northern Bhar El Ghazel State is unshakable for the doubting Thomas,” he added.
