Malong ally welcomes U.S decision to suspend funding for South Sudan peace mechanisms

In an email to Sudans Post, Gen. Dickson Gatluak who was nominated by the South Sudan United Front as a part of its would-be mission to the CTSAMVM last month during a workshop in the Italian capital Rome said the US is right to suspend funding because Americans’ taxpayers money cannot be wasted.

JUBA – A senior South Sudan opposition commander allied to Gen. Paul Malong Awan, the leader of South Sudan United Front (SSUF), has welcomed this week’s decision by the United States of American to suspend its funding to South Sudan peace implementation monitoring mechanisms.

The United States of America said on Friday that they have decided to suspend the funding to the R-JMEC and CTSAMVM because of the unwillingness of South Sudan leaders to implement the revitalized peace agreement signed in September 2018.

“Congratulations to the U.S. Government for the wise decision it has made to end the assistance for peace process in South Sudan,” Gatluak said.

“t’s so ridiculous and gross misuse of  tax payers’ money by the U.S government to  waste millions of Tax dollars in a failed state like South Sudan where the leaders (President Kiir and Dr. Riek  Machar) are not serious to implement the agreement( R- ARCSS)  in order to bring the lasting peace in the country,” he added.

He added that “It would be good if the Americans people are receiving the value for their tax dollars to see the peace Prevailing but they are not.”
