NAIROBI – South Sudan’s former army chief General Paul Malong Awan has dismissed Emmanuel Sunday De John from South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) for collusion with government security agents in Juba and indiscipline activities.

“By the Authority vested in me as Chairman and C-IN-C, South Sudan United Front/ Army, by the first sitting of the leadership and Command Council, I Gen. Paul Malong Awan, do hereby order the dismissal of the above mentioned member,” Malong said in a letter extended to Sudans Post.

Malong said in the letter that Sunday was dismissed from the movement for “Passing on of sensitive files and information to Juba agents” and “Insubordination and indiscipline towards  my person, senior and junior members of SSUF/A.”

It added that the decision for Sunday’s dismissal from the SSUF/A “will take effect immediately from the date of signing.”

Last week, Malong removed Sunday as the SSUF/A spokesman for allegedly leaking classified information to the government in Juba. Sunday denied the accusation and instead accused Malong of working to derail the movement.

He later on issued a statement dismissing Malong as the chair of the movement and naming himself the chairperson of the group.
