JUBA – South Sudan’s former army chief General Paul Malong Awan has appointed his envoy to Uganda, Deng Chapath, as the spokesman of South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) weeks after the defection of his spokesman Chol Duang to Juba.
In a statement this afternoon, Malong citing his powers in the SSUF/A constitution, appointed Deng as the Secretary for Information and Communication and also appointed Abraham Garang Kuot as his personal press secretary.
“In exercise of powers conferred upon me by articles 20.3;20. 4; and 20.7 of South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) constitution, 2021 AD, I, Gen. Paul Malong Awan Anei, Chairman and Commander – In-Chief(C-In-C) of SSUF/A, do hereby appoint Hon. David Deng Chapath Makuac as information and communication Secretary, South Sudan United Front/A(SSUF/A) and Hon. Abraham Garang Kuot as Spokesperson in the office of Chairman and commander -In -Chief, South Sudan United Front/Army, SSUF/A,” he said.
“This order shall come into force from the date of its signature by the Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of South Sudan United Front/Army, SSUF/A,” the former army chief added in the statement.
In a statement, Deng welcomed his appointment and said he will not disappoint the holdout opposition group as did by his predecessor.’
“I will make sure that I uphold the trust bestowed upon me by my Chairman to make sure the mission of SSUF a success and our vision is realized,” Deng who travelled to Kenya from the Ugandan capital Kampala to Nairobi said in a statement seen by Sudans Post.
“Thank you my Chairman and may God bless you, may God bless SSUF and all the members and Grant us the complete success,” he added.
