JUBA — South Sudan opposition leader and former army chief General Paul Malong Awan Anei has visited the wounded Bishop-elect of the Rumbek diocese, Fr. Christian Carlassare, according to a Malong spokesman.

The Bishop was wounded on Monday morning when he was shot twice in the legs at his residence in Rumbek town.

Over 20 people including clerics have been arrested in connection to the unlawful act.

In a statement this morning, Malong’s press secretary and spokesman of the South Sudan United Front Chol Duang said Malong has visited the Bishop who is currently in Nairobi for treatment.

“SSUF/A Chairman Gen. Paul Malong Awan has paid a hospital visit to Bishop-Elect, Fr. Christian Carlassare, who was shot in the legs by motive assailants in Rumbek this week,” he said.

“Gen. Paul Malong offered his sincerest sympathies with Fr. Christian Carlassare, the Bishop-Elect of Rumbek Diocese and reiterated the strong relationship between South Sudanese and the Roman Catholics, dating back to centuries “ he added.

The statement further said the Bishop “expressed appreciation for Gen. Malong’s visit.”

“Malong visits wounded Rumbek Bishop-elect — spokesman”

    Mr. Paul Malongdit,

Don’t even waste your time visit those *vermins/parasites*. Let the boys/girls in ‘Upper Nile’ play balls with our country and over our people ever ever again.

We may asked you if it very difficult for us, but that is not going to happen, not to day or even in million years.
