Juba – A son of South Sudan’s former army chief and opposition leader General Paul Malong Awan Anei is urging for an immediate arrest and detention of members of the Jieng Council of Elders for their role in messing up the world’s youngest country.
Garang Paul Malong accused the Jieng Council of Elders of being used by National Security Service Director of Internal Security Bureau General Akol Koor Kuc to also divide the Dinka people to complicate reconciliation efforts in the country.
“We have elders who have divided the Jieng people so that they make [General Akol Koor] a potential for president,” he wrote on his timeline on Facebook.
“I condemns their statements and I said, they do not speak on behalf of all the Jieng that have been marginalized and always targeted,” he added.
He further called for their arrest for messing up the world’s youngest country asking what would be the job of lawmakers who are elected to speak on behalf of the citizens of tribal groups like the Jieng are allowed to do their job.
“I believes that these elders should be arrested and sentenced [to prison] for the messes they are causing in the country,” he said.
“How many governments do we have in South Sudan that the JCE has to speak on behalf of us and what is the role of our MPs and representatives?” he questioned.k
