AWEIL – A 32-year-old man has died following a tragic collision between his motorbike and a three-wheeled motorcycle, locally known as a “tuktuk,” in Aweil East County, Northern Bahr El Ghazal, on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Aguot Anei Lual, was a boda-boda rider traveling with two other passengers from Wanjok Town to Madhol Payam when the fatal accident occurred.
Eyewitness Chan Bol provided details of the incident, which took place on the highway linking Madhol Payam and Wanjok Town.
“Mr. Aguot was a married man who did whatever he could to make ends meet. He resorted to riding a boda-boda, and tragically, he died in a collision with a tuktuk on Friday at Manawan,” Chan said. “He bled profusely from his mouth, ear, and nose after being struck by the tuktuk around 7:30 PM.”
Chan added that Aguot was carrying two passengers: Garang Deng Malong, a plumber, and a young girl whom he had attended training with at Manawan Highway.
The eyewitness explained that Aguot had attempted to overtake another vehicle when he collided with the tuktuk, leading to his death. The two other passengers sustained serious injuries, with both breaking their legs.
“Aguot died on the spot, while the other two victims are being prepared for transport to Juba for further treatment,” Chan said.
Local residents have attributed such incidents to speeding, as the highway had recently been repaired by the ARC company, and many people neglect road safety measures.
Authorities, especially traffic police, have repeatedly urged the public to exercise caution on the road, as it is heavily used by multiple vehicles.
The death of Aguot Anei Lual has shocked residents of Madhol and his home village of Anguot, where he was known for his hard work and resilience. He is survived by his wife and four children.
