JUBA – Brigadier General David Manyang Kerlual has denied reports that he has defected from the main armed opposition group, SPLM-IO, to join South Sudan United Front (SSUF/A) led by General Paul Malong Awan.

Yesterday, several senior members of the SSUF/A circulated on social media that Manyang, a renowned singer in Unity state, has abandoned Machar to join them.

However, in a statement Manyang extended to Sudans Post this morning, the SPLA-IO officer denied the defection rumors and accused Dickson Gatluak Joak, a senior member of the SSUF/A, of being behind the news.

“This note serves to inform you that, there is rumorse thats circulated in social media that, i defect to Gen, Malong Awan Anei. This is not true, but serious attempt from those wish to  tannish my image. I didn’t defect am still loyal to the people’s movement SPLM-IO,” Manyang said.

“I would like to caution our members to be vigilant about fake news, kindly to disregard that fake letter design by Gatluak Jok an his cohorts,” he further added.
