JUBA, JUNE 21, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – Controversial opposition leader Peter Mayen Majongdit has said that he is “strong and determined” to return to the pollical arena after spending time in his village in Warrap State.

Mayen is one of two South Sudanese politicians – the other being President Salva Kiir Mayardit – who have declared their intention to run for the anticipated elections in 2024.

In a brief statement on his social media Facebook page, Mayen said that he is “finally back to the game very strong and determine.”

Mayen, a former minister of humanitarian affairs and disaster management, is the leader of the People’s Liberal Party (PLP),  a member of the Other Political Parties better known to South Sudanese as OPP.

Mayen was previously the leader of the OPP until he was removed by President Kiir as minister of humanitarian affairs.

He was removed in November last year after he was accused by the public of corrupting funds meant for floods victims.

He later denied any involvement in corruption saying the money which were approved by the council of minister had been delivered to President Kiir’s office and directed the public to go and ask the presidency for where about of the money.
