JUBA – MTN South Sudan, in partnership with experts, launched Mobile Money School Fees Payment Services on Friday, enabling parents and students to pay school fees using their mobile money wallets.
Francis Matseketsa, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN South Sudan Fintech, said that the new service will allow students to pay their tuition by depositing money into their MTN Mobile Money wallets.
“This will be very important and will help all the students who are unable to go to the bank and deposit money,” Matseketsa said during a press conference at the MTN South Sudan headquarters.
“The process is easy, and each and every student should have an identity card for easy access to deposit money into their Momo school fees payment account,” he added.
David Lowela Lado, the Director General of Basic and Secondary Education at the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, said the ministry will work closely with all schools across ten states and three administrative areas to adopt the MTN Fintech system.
“Parents and guardians can deposit money into their Momo wallets. MTN Fintech will now reduce the cost of insecurity associated with carrying large amounts of cash. Parents and students will only need to deposit money through Momo,” Lado said.
MTN Fintech South Sudan has partnered with technical experts to enable parents and students to pay school fees using their Momo wallets. Each school will have a unique student number for payment purposes.
