JUBA – Regional leaders including presidents of Uganda, Kenya and Chad will on Saturday arrive in the South Sudanese capital Juba to attend the signing of the Sudanese peace deal, according to a senior South Sudan government official.

A signing ceremony for the signing of a landmark Sudanese peace agreement is being conducted on Saturday to end decades-long devastating conflict.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Tutkew Gatluak, South Sudan Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs and chief mediator of the Sudanese peace talk, said regional leaders are expected to arrive in the country beginning this evening to attend the ceremony.

“The Presidents of Kenya, Uganda, Chad and Sudan will attend. The Prime Ministers of Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan will also be in attendance. The Qatari foreign minister, Saudi Arabian foreign minister, UAE Petroleum minister are also coming,” Tutkew said.

“Sudanese coming to Juba are not visitors, this is your home. All roads and airports in South Sudan are open for citizens of Sudan to come for this function,” Tut said.

The senior government official further said “All Sudanese are welcome and we are prepared and ready for the function.”
