JUBA — South Sudan’s National Salvation Front (NAS) led by General Thomas Cirilo Swaka has denied social media rumors that its military spokesman Yien Matthew has resigned terming a letter circulating on social media as fake.
A letter which appears to be unauthentic has been making headlines on social media purporting the resignation of Mathew from the Cirilo-led movement.
In a statement to respond to the letter, Suba Samuel Mannase said there is no any truth behind the letter and said General Yien hasn’t resigned from the rebel movement as speculated.
“There is a fake letter circulating on social media that Gen. Yien Matthew has resigned from National Salvation Front. I would like to inform you that our distractors are not resting from wishing us bad and as such they keep on manufacturing debious stories as part of thier struggle,” said the statement extended to Sudans Post.
The statement further indicated that the signature used belongs to Suba himself and if Mathew had resigned, he could not have used the NAS heading paper as it is the case in the purported letter of resignation.
“The letter head used is for my office of NAS Spokesperson, now how can Yen Matthew resigned using different office letter head? Two, both the signature and the stamp belong to NAS Spokesperson, so how can Yien Matthew resigned using someone’s stamp and signature. Three, that Yien resigned on 18th August 2021, yet looking at the date at the stamp is 03 june 2021,” it said.
“So the person who resigned on behalf of Yien just electronically manipulated one of our press releases of 03 june 2021 and wrote his rubbish on it. Off course, this is the work of our enemies, but this time round they make big mockery of themselves,” it added.
