JUBA – The governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Tong Aken Ngor and former presidential spokesperson, Ateny Wek Ateny have reconciled, a day after the latter accused the former of failing to govern the state.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for Aweil Students Association at Freedom Hall in Juba, Ateny questioned why a 2022 murder of a little girl remains unresolved.

The suspected killer, an Arab, is still in jail despite a death sentence, Ateny said.

Such questions angered the governor who accused Ateny of politically fighting him, prompting some senior politicians to look into ways of reconciling the two.

A reliable source told Sudans Post that the Vice President for Services Cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi, Investment minister, Dhieu Mathok and his Trade counterpart, William Anyuon met governor and Ateny at a meeting held in the capital, Juba.

The two reportedly reconciled and agreed to work for the interest of the people.

“The two, Ateny and Tong Aken were brought together and they were heard on what brings them into loggerheads. They agreed to work together without being taken out of context as a trick to bring down governor Tong,” said the source.

The governor reportedly downplayed earlier claims that some youth were being used to undermine his administration, instead focusing on the meeting agenda.

He said case involving the murder of the little girl is before a Supreme Court.

Both Ateny and the governor held hands to publicly demonstrate reconciliation.

That was a serious case in nature, the international Children Act has to be used against the murder of the child in NBGs. No one has used so and so, me I live out side South Sudan but what happened in Aweil should be tolerated and shouldn’t be a political game among political corrupts leaders. When you looks at this case it has been long now, reason being there is a kind of political play on the matter itself. in countries like Uganda where English law remains at its applicability to all, I think such a person could have been convicted without delay and beyond. Which country on earth have you been seeing a little girl being rape up to death sir?

To, me the governor has failed totally and should be removed without delay, and beside that, the governorship belongs to every son and daughter that looks qualified. To be sincere, the accused person is not available on the ground, might have deserted to some other countries, why? the bribe has got taken from him.

I want to say, it is not a matter between Tong and Ateny, it is a case and very serious in nature and so damaging at the same time which undermines the social fabrication of Aweil people generally. I request Mr. president to removeved and dismissed this governor without fear and favor. I repeatedly severally in my own writings that I have no personal with the current governor, but state belongs to all.

    Thanks.
