AWEIL – The Agriculture and Forestry minister in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state, Anei Deng Akok has been fired.
Akok was relieved through a decree and Awaya Awaya Makuei appointed as his successor.
Both officials are members of the armed opposition movement (SPLM-IO).
A source who preferred anonymity claimed Akok was sacked over corruption.
Last year, for instance, unnecessary deductions were made in the salaries of ministry staff who attended the SPLM-IO retreat in Wau without the minister’s approval.
A separate decree relieved the state Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Chairperson Dut Majokdit,
Majokdit was succeeded by Lual Awach Mangarit.
