Maj. Kasmiro was wounded when he attempted to undo a sit in set in the middle of the road by members of the Ma’di community to mount following the killing of Anzara Chief John Ebele who was shot by a gunman earlier in the morning.
Speaking to Sudans Post, George Kasmiro, the younger brother to Maj. Kasmiro, said the Nimule police chief was taken to a hospital in Juba for a surgery to remove the bullet that he had retained in his leg following his wounding.
“He has been brought to Peace Hospital of Chinese here in Juba town. His situation is now very good after the surgery. He just came out of the operation room and the retained bullet has now been removed safely,” Kasmiro said.
CALL FOR CALM IN NIMULE
The governor of Eastern Equatoria state Louis Lobong Lojore yesterday issued a statement calling for calm among the local population in Nimule and urged hundreds of people who had fled the violence for Uganda to return, alleging that some people have “bad intention” for their land.
“I called on the people of Eastern Equatoria State to exercise maximum restraint and to continuously look forward to building a peaceful, united South Sudan free from conflicts and tribal animosity,” Governor Lobong said.
“We called on the people of Ma’di to remain in their areas and those in the refugee camps should come back and rebuild their lives in the country. There are people who have an ill intention for your land,” he added.
