The conference aims to discuss issues such as food insecurity, underdevelopment, and education that the state is grappling with.
Speaking to Sudans Post on Monday, state information minister Zechariah Garang Lual said the conference will address a wide range of issues affecting the state.
Lual stated that the conference will bring together national figures, diaspora members, and state officials to discuss the state’s challenges.
“It will start on the 20th of December till January and leaders including those in Juba will come to Aweil and join the state officials here and will discuss issues that the state is facing. And the participants will be around 700 people,” said Lual.
He added that issues related to legislation and bylaws will also be on the agenda.
“Laws that the state can be governed by will also be discussed and if others are to be revoked then it will be done as well. So, I urge everyone to look forward to meeting on that day,” he said.
Many state residents hope that education will be a key topic, as Northern Bahr el Gazal lacks an effective education system, including a university.
A fundraising project to establish a university has stalled.
