AWEIL – The Dinka Peace Committee in Aweil North County has handed over a Sudanese national who was apprehended in Gok-Machar, situated in Aweil North County along the Sudan border.

Majok Deng Kuach, the secretary general for the peace committee, told Sudans Post on Tuesday in Gok-Machar that they had detained 32-year-old Sudanese national Hussein Jaffer in alignment with an agreement between Dinka Malual and Rezeigat community living in Gok-Machar.

The county headquarters confirmed to Sudans Post the surrender of Hussein Jaffer, who was detained in connection with the alleged collaboration with other Arabs tribes in the killing of an individual identified as Mahmoud in 2022 over blood compensation funds.

Mahmoud was allegedly engaged in the collection of blood money in Sudan’s Dheen area for compensating deceased South Sudanese nationals from Northern Bahr el Ghazal, as per the agreement between Dinka Malual and Rezeigat communities.

Mahmoud, also the head of the Rezeigat peace committee, lost his life during the money collection process in Sudan, and Hussein Jaffer was accused of collaborating with others in the killing en route to Northern Bahr El Gazal.

Majok explained that Hussein had fled Sudan during the April war outbreak and was captured at the border between Sudan and South Sudan in Northern Bahr El Gazal state, specifically at Kiir Adem, subsequently arrested in Gok-machar.

“He was released by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan and attempted to enter South Sudan, where we apprehended him,” Majok said.

The Rezeigat committee, consisting of six individuals, arrived from Dheen, aiming to extradite Hussein for further proceedings in Sudan, as explained by Majok.

Abdallah Omar, the head of the committee, along with his team, is expected to escort Hussein.

Despite his prior release from prison by RSF, Abdallah emphasized that the court of law will determine the fate of Jaffer and three others believed to be involved in Mahmoud’s killing.
