JUBA — South Sudan opposition politician and former Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) nominee for deputy minister of interior Nyenagwek Kuol has been appointed as the executive director in the office of the First Vice President, a senior official official has said.

Machar in February last year nominated Nyenagwek for the position of deputy minister of interior which was granted to the main armed opposition group by the revitalized peace agreement.

President Salva Kiir however rejected her nomination and late last year, President Kiir received the nomination of then executive director in the office of the First Vice President Martin Abucha and appointed him immediately as deputy minister of interior.

The position of executive director in the office of the First Vice President remained vacant since then.

Speaking to Sudans Post this evening, a senior member of the SPLM-IO closed to First Vice President Machar said the main armed opposition leader has decided to appoint Nyenagwek as the executive director in the office of the First Vice President.

“H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny has appointed Hon. Nyenagwek as the executive director in the  office of the First Vice President effective today,” the official said from Juba in condition of anonymity.

“This is a big achievement for the First Vice President to appoint a great politician in the person of Nyenagwek as the executive director in the First Vice President’s office,” the official said.
