JUBA – Former South Sudan opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) nominee for deputy minister of interior Nyenagwek Kuol has begun her work as the executive director in the office of the First Vice President.

Nyenagwek was appointed by Machar to the position earlier this week exactly one year after her nomination as the deputy minister of interior was rejected by President Salva Kiir Mayardit who gave no reason for the decision.

Machar in February last year nominated Nyenagwek for the position of deputy minister of interior which was granted to the main armed opposition group by the revitalized peace agreement.

President Salva Kiir however rejected her nomination and late last year, President Kiir received the nomination of then executive director in the office of the First Vice President Martin Abucha and appointed him immediately as deputy minister of interior.

The position of executive director in the office of the First Vice President remained vacant since then.

In a brief social media statement, Nyenagwek who is also the head of the SPLM-IO in Abyei said she will be available for the public, though she will be busy.

“I will be busy, but I will be always there for you,” she said.
