Speaking to Sudans Post, displaced persons at the camp said Emmanuel Obayi who works as a nutrition monitoring officer for the International Medical Corps (IMC) was kidnapped at his resident at UN protection of civilians site in Malakal on Sunday this week.
“Emmanuel works as a nutrition monitoring officer with the International Medical Corps, and he works in Owichi and the night he was arrested he came to the Malakal POC, and he was with his family, and they took him to an unknown place,” said one IDP.
A family member who refused to be named said they have information that their son has been taken to the Wau Shilluk area where the Agwelek forces are based and said attempts for the family to relocate him have been yield no fruits.
“Although we have information that he is in jail at Wau Shilluk, we opened a case with the police in Malakal town. We have first look for him and he is nowhere to be found, but some friends said that he is in Wau Shilluk,” the family member said.
For his part, the Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) Edmund Yakani separately told Sudans Post that Emmanuel was arrested on Sunday by the Agwelek forces and taken to Wau Shilluk.
“A humanitarian worker by the name, Emmanuel Obayi, who works as a nutrition monitor with International Medical Corps (IMC) in Malakal POC was picked on Sunday by the forces of Agwelek and taken to Wau Shilluk,” Yakani said.
