MAGWI— One person was shot dead, and two others were left with gunshot wounds on Friday in Magwi County of South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria State during a shooting spree by an assailant, authorities described as a drug abuser.
Speaking to Sudans Post, 1st Lt. Koji Richard, the police crime investigator, said the offender whose name has not been given broke into a house and stole a gun in Jokoki village. When the house owners tried to stop him, he opened fire, killing one of them.
According to Richard, the same assailant also went to a neighboring village called Abara, where he shot and injured two more people. One victim was injured in the head and another in the leg.
“Our force on the ground arrested the officer along with the wounded people that he has tortured and shot at. We are making arrangements to bring him to the county head for more investigation as a case has been opened against his act. Generally, the suspect shot 1 person dead in Jokoki and injured 1 person on the leg plus the other on his head in Nyolo Boma. He was later arrested and detained in Ayii Police Post,” he said.
The police officer further added that the injured were taken to a hospital in Magwi for treatment and that the suspect had been arrested and detained at Ayii Boma police station, awaiting transfer to the county headquarters.
