Opposition leader fires secretary general, dissolves national secretariat

South Sudan opposition leader Gen. Bapiny Manytuil Wejang has issued an order firing the Secretary-General and dissolving the entire national secretariat of the South Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SSLM/A), according to the order extended to Sudans Post.

JUBA – South Sudan opposition leader Gen. Bapiny Manytuil Wejang has issued an order firing the Secretary-General and dissolving the entire national secretariat of the South Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SSLM/A), according to the order extended to Sudans Post.

Wejang who is also one of the three deputies of the speaker of South Sudan’s Reconstituted Transitional National Legislature said he used his powers given to him under the manifesto of South Sudan Liberation Movement/Army.

“In exercise of the powers conferred upon me buy the manifesto of South Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SSLM/A) 2017 AD, I Hon. Bapiny Manytuil Wejang Wuor, Chairman and Commander in Chief of SSLM/A, do herby issue this order for the relief of Hon. Peter Gatkuoth Thot from the position of Secretary General of South Sudan Liberation (SSLM/A),” Gen. Bapiny said in the order.

Separately, SSLM/A spokesman Maj. Gen. Saif Khamwina Gatluak said Manytuil has dissolved the entire leadership of the National Secretariat using powers conferred to him by the SSLM/A constitution which he said will ease the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.

“SSLM Chairman dissolved the National Secretariat, relieved the deputy and the secretary general of the party. We gave him the powers to abolish and the power to build,” he said in a brief social media statement.

“The order ground was to shape the party determination for the tasks effect to the R-ARCSS and the wisdom to place rightly the effective, potential team to the duty at the right time,” he added.
