JUBA – Some members of South Sudan opposition groups serving in the newly reconstituted Northern Bahr el Ghazal state are said to have been beaten by security forces with orders of the state security advisor, according to a senior opposition official.
Dut Majokdit, a member of the SPLM-IO National Liberation Council told Sudans Post this afternoon that Anei Tok Aluel who serves as the Chairperson for the state Anti-Corruption Commission and Mayom Yak who serves as a office manager for the minister of youth and sport as well as the minister himself were beaten and intimidated.
“Yesterday, the governor’s advisor for security affairs went from hotel to hotel where SPLM-IO officials are being accommodated and then beat them without any reason,” Dut said.
The senior opposition official condemned the actions and said it is a gross violation of the revitalized peace agreement signed by President Salva Kiir and his first deputy Dr. Riek Machar in 2018.
“This is a gross violation of the revitalized peace agreement. We are part of the revitalized government because of the peace deal. So, if we don’t accept each other, then the peace agreement will be put at risk,” he said from Juba.
“Economic affairs Advisor was also attacked at his hotel room from SSOA including William Deng Ngong deputy commissioner for anti-corruption from National agenda,” he added.
