WAU, JUNE 26, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – The office of United Sudan African Party (USAP) in Western Bahr el Ghazal State have been closed down after its leader there declared his defection to the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) faction led by President Sava Kiir.

Santino Uyu Madiay, the leader of the party in Western Bahr el Ghazal turned Kiir ally said he has defected along with over 1630 officials because the head office in Juba, South Sudan’s capital, do not cooperate with them.

“The reason why we joined the SPLM is because there were some people in SPLM who earlier urged us to stand with them but in the past, we told them that we were still studying the work of our office in Juba,” he is quoted by independent Radio Tamazuj as saying.

“Unfortunately, we came to understand that nothing was going on and our (USAP) people in Juba were not cooperating with us in the state and this is why we decided to quit the party,” he added.

He said that since the leader of the group died, “none of our leaders in Juba has told us what to do and secondly, many of our members left the party long ago and we were only a few left so we took a decision to close the office.”
