KKHARTOUM – At least forty-five (45) South Sudanese nationals have been detained by Sudanese authorities in the capital Khartoum following sectional clash that has led to the wounding of at least ten people including women, community leaders say.
Speaking to Sudans Post, Gatluak Kai, a community leader in Khartoum, said fighting erupted between different sections of the Bul Community of Unity State on Tuesday morning following misunderstanding over political issues back home.
“This people they have turned the politics into community debates and this has resulted in fighting among themselves and the Sudanese police came and then arrested at least 45 people and they are now in jail,” Kai said.
When asked if the fighting has ever anything to do with the recent execution of rebel commanders by the, government of Unity State, the community leader said he is not sure, but cannot rule out involvement of the issue in the sectional clash.
“What I am talking about are general political issues and I have no issue if this has anything to do with the rebels and the government forces. But I cannot rule it out, I cannot tell you something I am not sure about because it is a very sensitive issue,” he added.
Another community member in Khartoum separately told Sudans Post that the South Sudanese citizens were being detained in a police jail in Omdurman and community leaders are making efforts to make sure that they are released and revealed that 10 people including a few women have been injured.
“No body has died in the sectional clash and the politic is detaining them in Omdurman and we are making efforts so that they are released. So far, ten people have been injured including women and they are recovering,” he added.
