JUBA – Leaders of the South Sudan Opposition Movements Alliance (SSOMA) General Paul Malong Awan and Pagan Amum Okiech are expected to arrive in Juba after the final signing of the Rome peace talk mediated by Rome-based Community of Sant’egidio.

Speaking to reporters at Juba International Airport yesterday upon arrival from Kenya, Barnaba Marial Benjamin, head of government’s delegation said the two leaders will first send advance teams to Juba before returning to Juba after the final signing the peace deal.

“The advance team of Pagan and Malong will come to Juba after the two parties agreed on the details in the peace agreement and after signing the final peace deal,” Marial told reporters in Juba

Benjamin said their coming is a good gesture for the on-going Roma peace talks.

“It is a good environment for them to return home after being away for so many years,” said Benjamin.

He added that the Opposition group sends the list of their members to join the body monitoring the ceasefire of South Sudan.

Last week, the government and the South Sudan Opposition Movements Alliance signed basic documents on governance, security, land and human rights, among others.

The declaration of principles was agreed upon in Naivasha, Kenya, on Thursday.

The groups that signed the documents with the government are Real-SPLM led by Pagan Amum and South Sudan United Front headed up by General Paul Malong.
