JUBA — A fist fight has erupted between South Sudan’s minister of humanitarian affairs and disaster management Peter Mayen Majongdit and spectators after the minister fired up seven rounds of ammunition at Aweil Freedom Square where a women’s football match was about to kick off, sources with knowledge said.

Speaking to Sudans Post this afternoon, two sources who witnessed the incident said minister Mayen was protesting his wife’s participation in the game and fired seven rounds of ammunition to disrupt it.

The match, the sources said, was between Aweil Women’s Football team and Juba Super Stars Women’s team and his wife was among the players.

“Yesterday evening, minister Peter Mayen Majongdit came and open fire and shot up seven rounds of ammunition at Aweil Freedom Square where women were about to play,” one of the two sources that attended the match told Sudans Post from Aweil.

“The minister had apparently had conversations with his wife in Juba and he was opposed to his wife’s participation, but his wife refused to listen to him and that is why he came to disrupt the game that took a lot of money to organize,” the source added.

The other source further revealed that Mayen was forced out of the playing ground by the spectators who were not about about his conduct given his position as a national minister of humanitarian affairs.

“When he shot the seven bullets, the people ran to him and disarmed him. He was taken to his care by force and was told immediately to leave,” the source said.

The source further added that the minister promised “to bring us to our sense because we are inciting his wife against him.”

Hon. Minister, you have gone too far by abusing your position. What are the law enforcement agencies there for.
