JUBA — South Sudan’s Inspector of Police, Gen. Majak Akech, said he will be travelling to Lakes State tomorrow to investigate the recent shooting of the newly elected Bishop of Rumbek Diocese.
Fr Christian Carlassare was attacked at his house on Sunday night.
The Italian born Comboni Missionary Cleric was appointed Bishop for Rumbek Dioceses on March 8.
His Episcopal ordination was scheduled for Pentecost Sunday May 23, 2021.
“I am directed to travel tomorrow to Rumbek and I will come back with good results of the incident. We will not condense this act as police. We promise to deal with those involved in the shooting of the bishop in accordance with law once we apprehend them,” Akech said during the launch of the media code of conduct this morning in Juba.
Akech vowed to use every tool within their disposal to quickly apprehend and bring the suspect before the law for trial.
“We will allocate their whereabouts and apprehend them. We condemn this cat and we are working to make sure that these culprits are brought to book,” he said.
“We are working hard to make sure that those culprits will be brought to book. Some of those involved in the operation were apprehended yesterday and we will disclose their names very soon,” he added.
