JUBA – South Sudan police service on Sunday confirmed that it is detaining popular singer, Larson Angok, who was arrested by unidentified security elements in Wau earlier this week.

Larson was initially thought to have been arrested by the country’s National Security Service (NSS) which later denied that he is in their custody after social media speculations.

The National Security Service further threatened to deal with people they termed as ‘negative personalities’ for spreading false information “tarnishing the good reputation and image of the National Security Service.”

Speaking to Sudans Post on Sunday evening, General Daniel Justin confirmed that the police is detaining the singer but denied speculations that he is being detained over anti-SPLM song.

“This is to confirm that he is being detained by the police. He was arrested in Wau and he has been brought to Juba,” General Justin said.

“But the reasons for his arrest is not what you have said or heard. He is arrested on disciplinary issues because he is one of the police service. He is doing something that is against the code of conduct of the South Sudan Police Service,” he stated.
