Politicians accused of fueling ethnic violence

This came after 13 people were killed by unknown armed men in the last two months in Tambura.

JUBA – State Authorities in Western Equatoria State of South Sudan have accused former government officials of defunct Tambura State and some senior politicians in Juba of fueling communal violence in the state.

This came after 13 people were killed by unknown armed men in the last two months in Tambura.

“There are people who are used by senior politicians in Juba to kill people in Tambura as an attempt to tarnish the image of state government for failing to provide security to the citizens,” said Alex Daniel Digi, Press Secretary in office of governor of Western Equatoria State in a press statement by the extended to Sudans Post.

“The investigation Department of CID who was formed by the previous government of defunct Tambura state suspected to be behind all the crimes happening in Tambura,” Digi added.

Digi revealed that the rebel group of the National Salvation Front led by Gen. Thomas Cirilo is planning to attack Katiba in Mundri East County.

“The National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Thomas Cirilo are ambushing, looting and killing innocent people travelling along Mundri-Juba road. We got some report that they (NAS) are planning to attack Katiba in Mundri East County,” he said.
