JUBA – Juba University student Babu Emmanuel Lokiri who was suspected of killing three young siblings in August at Rock City, a Juba suburb, has this morning been found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging.

The verdict was announced during a sitting in Juba on Monday morning.

Emmanuel was arrested in August, days after three children were found murdered at home while their mother, who was arrested by the police while trying to escape the country last week, was on  visit to a nearby hospital.

In September, court hearings into the case began with Emmanuel and his defense team pleading innocent.

Reading out the verdict this morning, the presiding Judge Duoth Kulang, said Emmanuel, 24, is guilty of the gruesome killing of 9-year-old Naomi, 7-year-old Blessing and 4-year old Nor Edward.

The judge said the now convict used machete to end the lives of the three children.

The judge said the accused has 15 days to appeal the ruling, bringing almost to an end the case which has angered many South Sudanese all over the world.

No one is above the laws. Enough is enough! The court found Emmanuel guilty and deserved sentence to death by hanging. This will let other criminals fear and all the South Sudanese should learn in this case.

Rest in Peace My Innocent Sisters and Brother! Rest in Hell Emmanuel!
