JUBA – South Sudan singer Brigadier General David Manyang Kelual Nyinyar who had in the pass defected several times has again left the SPLM-IO and joined the South Sudan United Front/Army led by General Paul Malong Awan.

Manyang, a renowned singer in Unity state, defected on Sunday to the Malong-led opposition group after some differences with colleagues in the SPLA-IO.

“Yes it is true that General Manyang Kelual Nyinyar has joined the movement under H.E General Paul Malong Awan Anei,” one source close to Malong said from Nairobi. “We welcome him with an open hand and we urges him to feel at home.”

Sudans Post has learned that David Manyang Kelual has switched sides several times during the course of the civil war, first defecting to the SPLM-IO led by Dr. Riek Machar Teny from the government, and again to the government in one year.

Since then, Manyang has been defecting at least twice each year.

It remains unclear if he will not defect from Malong this time.
