Ketket Koang Mut Hoal made the appeal during an annual graduation ceremony conducted on Friday in Cairo for Nuer students who graduated in various Egyptian Universities and higher institutes.
“I am proud of you, the class of 2021, and I can’t wait to see your accomplishments in the next steps of your educational journey. Congratulations to you on your graduation. Your hard work and perseverance has led you into this proud moment in your lives,” Kaong told the graduates.
“This remarkable achievement is not for you alone, it is for your families, friends and colleagues as well. It was not an easy journey for you, it was a journey with a lot challenges but for your confidence, your faithfulness and your truthfulness you thrived and managed to achieve your goals,” he added.
The student leader stressed that hundreds of thousands of the South Sudanese families back home have been affected by floods, and have been also displaced as result of the ongoing civil war saying there was need for them to return so that they render assistance based on the different fields of their studies.
“I also encourage you to return home because our people are in need of you. They are suffocating in Protection of Civilians (POC) sites across the ten states in the South Sudan as well as in refugee camps in neighboring countries,” Koang said.
They were displaced by natural disasters such as the floods which has affected most parts of our country. There is also a shortage of humanitarian assistance and the government has do nothing to avert those crisis,” he added.
He added: “It is our duty as sons and daughters of South Sudan to stand firm with our vulnerable people. They deserve our contribution ….. Let us wake up to help them in regards to health and in other sectors of basic needs.”
