JUBA – A South Sudanese student body in Egypt has condemned last week’s cattle raid by suspected armed youth from Warrap state on a cattle camp in Mayom County in Unity killing several innocent people including women and children.

Ketket Koang Mut, the chairman of Nuer Student’s Union in Egypt said in a statement extended to Sudans Post that the students’ body condemns the killing and urged authorities in Juba to step up investigation and hold to account perpetrators.

The group also accused the country’s governor of Warrap state of planning and executing the order to evade insecurity back home.

“Nuer Students’ Union in Universities and higher Institutes in Arab Republic of Egypt do hereby condemn the killing of innocence civilians in Mayom County by military governor of Warrap state who launched deadly attack to Mayom county’s territories this 3rd, April,” the group said in the statement.

“The military governor of Warrap state is the one who facilitated the killing of innocence civilians in Unity State which is a tragic lost to Nuer Community Worldwide, Bentiu Community and Bul Community in particular,” the continue.

The body further called on “regional body, IGAD, TROIKO and the international community to urgently do whatever they can to pressure the revitalized transitional government of national unity to implement the revitalized peace agreement in letter and spirit.”

Those who accused the governor of Warrap State are baseless and unfounded. Let says how times did the youths of Mayom communities attacked on Warrap communities and when asked the Unity State officials then, they deny it. The truth is, the youths on both sides Warrap State and Unity State are not arming by any one but themselves. Therefore, the Idea of rushing in to blame Warrap State’s governor is baseless accusations he was send to Warrap State to make disarmament of his own State of Warrap youths who were fighting so bad for themselves. Those who always came from Unity State and attacked Warrap communities were not armed by Unity State officials we know that the youths are they one who bought guns from generals. The only way to stop killing, raiding cattle camps, baseless accusations and communities conflict is to bring youths leaders, chiefs, Elders of communities and Local governments officials for discussion about ending such unwanted violence and this is the only solution but taking side to blame the other while your community have done same thing it doesn’t make sense.
